'If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always gotten. - Tom Robbins
Where did you grow up? I was born in Loveland, Colorado. We lived in Estes Park until I was six and then moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, where I lived until I was eighteen, before moving to Missoula.
Tell us about your family. I have a younger brother and a younger sister. My sister lives in Seattle and my brother lives in Denver. My parents still live in Colorado Springs.
Share something about yourself that might surprise people. I was a pretty difficult kid. Headstrong would be the nice way of describing it. My grandmother still likes to tell my childhood horror stories at family reunions. Every family reunion.
Briefly describe your work experience. Before I returned to school for my teaching certification, I worked as a ski instructor and camp counselor in Colorado. I then returned to Missoula, Montana for school and following the completion of my Masters in Education, I taught middle school in Colorado Springs, Colorado before moving to Ecuador to teach abroad for a year. Now, it is great to be back in the United States, and even better to be back in Montana! I am very excited to be part of the wonderful Summit Prep community.
If you could spend a week anywhere in the world, where would it be?If I could spend a week anywhere in the world, I would go to Lebanon, specifically the Zahle and Tripoli areas. I would travel with my grandfather, whose entire family is from there. He and I have been talking about the trip for years and we still have family there.
What do you enjoy doing when you are not working? When I am not working, I love to get outside. I enjoy riding my bike, hiking and camping in the summer, and skiing in the winter. At home, a good book and cup of hot chocolate or tea is where it's at.
What draws you most to this type of work? People are always on a path of growth and development. I enjoy being part of that process. It is wonderful to be part of a program that emphasizes the development of the social and emotional skills that are just as important to leading a healthy and productive life as intellectual and vocational skills.
