BA Secondary Education University of Montana
Where did you grow up? I grew up in Columbia Falls, Montana, just 30 miles from Summit Preparatory School. It was and is a beautiful place to grow up and I feel lucky to be back in the Flathead Valley.
Tell us about your family. I am the oldest of four children and love being an aunt to two nieces and two nephews.
Share something about yourself that might surprise people. There really isn’t anything about me that would be surprising. I enjoyed my years in college, belonging to a sorority and have life-long friends from that time.
Briefly describe your work experience. I started teaching directly after graduating from the University of Montana. I went up to Poplar, Montana where I taught for 29 years. I was a high school English teacher and then also the librarian for the last 5 years there. I moved to Billings, Montana and was a middle school librarian at two schools. I retired from that district and moved back to the Valley.
If you could spend a week anywhere in the world, where would it be?I would like to spend a week in London, England to soak in the culture and spend time where some of the great writers lived.
What do you enjoy doing when you are not working? I like taking my black Lab, Jackson on walks around the Valley. He loves the lakes and rivers so we spend time there. I like to watch my nephew here in Kalispell play sports and enjoy reading and watching movies.
What draws you most to this type of work? Working with high school students has always been a calling for me. I enjoy their energy, humor, and sense of possibility. They are easing their way into adulthood and if there’s anything I can do to help make that easier, I am happy to help.
